Lent season (kwaresma) had just started last Wednesday, started it with ash smudge in foreheads in the shape of cross. Reminding us of Christ's passion from his suffering to death and resurrection. Lent is a forty days tradition of solemn prayers. Holy Week (Semana Santa) is one of the longest holidays in the Philippines. It started from Palm Sunday, which commemorates the entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem, to black Saturday, then Easter Sunday. We Filipinos is very rich in culture and tradition but as time gone by, we slowly forgot those traditions that makes us unique and renowned. Now that we are in the age of modern world where everything is already computerized and very high technology, we forgot the essence that God created us to govern everything that He has created. But instead, we are governed by what man has created. Part of Filipino culture to take advantage of long holidays during Holy Week. Photo of the Basilica from afar Choosing the best place to visit during the holy week is very crucial. There are a lot of things to consider before finalizing your decision. As i am now living in Carmona, Cavite i decided to spend my holy week in Batangas, which i guess is more easier and comfortable to travel to. Here is some of my reason why: Batangas is only a few kilometers away from Cavite. I wanna experience and see the very popular Taal basilica. the bus station bound to Batangas is very near in the place i lived in. Bus terminal is not as crowded like in Cubao. I wanna explore the church and to know a little bit of its history. The Church Facade Upon entering the heritage town of Taal, i can barely recall the beautiful city of Silay. The city where i was born and raised. Taal is very similar to Silay City because it is also a heritage city which is the second most numbered ancestral houses next to Vigan.
